Claim 9 of 13 · Case 04 · The Trinity
The New Testament shows Jesus both submitting to the Father and possessing equality with God, so submission and full divinity sit side by side in the text.

Jesus prays. He obeys. He says the Father is greater than he is. If you have been arguing that Jesus is fully God, those texts demand an answer, and pretending they are not there is not an option. Here is the checkable claim, kept to what the text plainly shows: the same New Testament that records Jesus submitting also records him possessing equality with God and setting it aside for a role. Both sets of texts are on the page. The usual response is the distinction between role and nature, that a person can take a subordinate role without being lower in kind, the way someone can serve under an office without being a lesser human being. Be clear that this response is an interpretation of the data, not a bare fact. What is not in dispute is that both kinds of text are there, and any honest account has to keep both.

The submission texts, John 14:28, Luke 22:42, Philippians 2:6-7
This is the strongest form of the objection, stated in its own words. If Jesus is fully God, these verses have to be accounted for, not avoided. The submission is something Jesus takes on from a position of equality, which is why role and nature can be distinguished, and both kinds of text sit here, one verse apart.
