These are not honorary titles. In the Old Testament, God is the one who judges the whole earth and the one who gives and holds life. The New Testament hands both of those roles to Jesus, and it does so as a matter of fact, not flattery. That is another place where Jesus lands on the divine side of the line.

  1. The Father gives all judgment to the Son, John 5:22-23

Final judgment of all people is God’s role in the Old Testament. Assigning it to Jesus, with the explicit aim of equal honor, treats him as sharing God’s authority rather than serving under it.

  2. Life in himself, and the judgment seat of Christ, John 5:26 and 2 Corinthians 5:10

The verse says the Father granted the Son to have life in himself, and unitarian readers press that word. The classical reply is that what is granted is the Father’s own kind of life, life in oneself, which no creature has, so the text describes an eternal relation inside God rather than a creature receiving a gift. Paired with the judgment seat being Christ’s, it shows these God-only roles handed to Jesus across different writers.
