Objection · Case 04 · The Trinity
“Through whom” is instrumental language. God is the creator; Jesus is the instrument. An instrument is not the craftsman.

Response
In 1 Corinthians 8:6 the same preposition structure is used of the Father (from whom) and the Son (through whom), and in Romans 11:36 Paul uses from him and through him and to him of God alone. So Paul assigns to Jesus a preposition he elsewhere reserves for God’s own creative agency. Hebrews 1:2 to 3 goes further: the Son upholds the universe by the word of his power and is the exact imprint of God’s nature. Instruments do not uphold the universe by their own word.
About this exhibit
This objection is to Paul and Hebrews attribute creation to Jesus, 1 Corinthians 8:6 and Hebrews 1:2-3.
Paul routes creation “through” Jesus in the same verse that affirms one God, and Hebrews says the Son made the world and upholds it by his powerful word.
