Jesus says whoever speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, in this age or the age to come. The Spirit is placed above the Son as the more serious one to offend.

Couldn’t this describe a specific, hardened kind of unbelief, a final refusal of the Spirit’s testimony about who Jesus is, rather than a statement ranking the Spirit’s nature above the Son’s?

That reading is plausible and is why this evidence is offered as support rather than as a proof standing on its own. The cumulative pattern across all three is where the weight of the case rests.
