Claim 13 of 13 · Case 08 · Science
Biological evolution, whatever its scientific merits, does not by itself settle the question of God, and Christians hold a range of views on it.
One claim from the free evidence repository at apologetics.pro.
It is often assumed that accepting evolution means rejecting God, or that rejecting evolution is required to keep faith. Neither follows. Evolution is a scientific account of how life diversified. Whether there is a mind behind the process is a further question science does not reach. Christians fall into several camps: young-earth creation, old-earth creation, and evolutionary creation, which holds that God worked through the process. Scientists who are also Christians, such as Francis Collins, hold the last. The point for a conversation is that the science of common descent and the existence of a Creator are not the same question, and treating them as one confuses the debate.

Francis Collins on faith and common descent
This separates two questions people run together. You can dispute the science on scientific grounds, or hold it and still be a theist, but you cannot claim evolution alone rules out God without a further philosophical argument.
