Objection · Case 12 · Jehovah’s Witnesses
The 2024 changes were more than cosmetic. The organization now allows greeting the removed at meetings and softened the language. Isn’t “largely cosmetic” a judgment, not a documented fact?

Response
Fair, so here is what changed and what did not. Changed: greetings at meetings, softer terminology (removed rather than disfellowshipped), and a shorter path to reinstatement. Not changed: the expectation of avoiding social and family association outside meetings, which is the part that severs families. The August 2024 Watchtower is the source for both. Whether that amounts to cosmetic is for you to judge, and the people best placed to say are those who have lived through it on both sides.
